The Glasshouse

The Glasshouse
Lamp by Kristýna Pojerová
"Czech designer Kristýna Pojerová's Glasshouse Lamp provides a creative solution for city folks who want to have fresh herbs at hand while cooking in the kitchen. The herbs are planted inside the glass lamp along its wall in a kind of gutter around a central opening. This opening allows easy access to the herbs and ensures adequate ventilation enhancing natural microclimate. It also makes use of the heat generated by the bulb." by inspir3d

Bio Light

Phillips Bio-light Concept Runs On Bacteria‎
2011
"This wall of glass cells developed by Philips generates soft green light using live bioluminescent bacteria, which are fed with methane and composted material (drawn from the methane digester in the Microbial Home system). Alternatively the cellular light array can be filled with fluorescent proteins that emit different frequencies of light.
Each cell is connected via silicon tubes to the food source, (which is drawn from a reservoir at the base) creating a closed loop system for the living material. This represents a new genre of ‘living’ biological product that can use energy stored in the waste streams." by Philips
